Delfin Jaranilla, former Chef de Cuisine at Quality Italian, is making his way to the Upper East Side as the executive chef of Quality Eats. Born in the Philippines, he gained his love for food and cooking by watching his mother and grandmother in the kitchen. Delfin and his family moved to Southern California where his love for food only blossomed with regular tours of the city’s best food secrets and holes-in-the-wall ranging from taco joints to Korean barbecue spots. He also regularly visited New York City, where he was exposed to diverse cooking style and cuisines, which only peaked his interest in cooking professionally. In 2012, Delfin left his life in Southern California to pursue a culinary career in New York. Finding that culinary school and New York rents were a difficult combination, Delfin sought a restaurant position and landed a spot as garde manger at Quality Meats. Through hard work and dedication, he earned a spot on the Quality Italian opening team, then he served as the restaurant’s line cook, sous chef, and was rapidly promoted to chef de cuisine.
Delfin serves as the executive chef at Quality Eats Upper East Side. His love for simple, clever and honest food is reflected in the restaurant’s diverse and satisfying menu.
