General Manager / NoMad
Hospitality runs in Jeffrey Moreno’s family. Growing up on the border of Long Island City and Astoria in Queens, Jeffrey watched his father work his way up the back of the house at The Palm. His father’s first job in the US when he arrived from Argentina was as an overnight porter. After being promoted to dishwasher, then prep cook, line cook, broiler cook, and sous chef, Jeffrey’s father was made executive chef when The Palm expanded to Manhattan’s west side. Jeffrey and his brother grew up in the restaurant’s kitchen, and loved all the energy and excitement. Jeffrey began his hospitality career in 2003 as a bar back/bus boy at The Palm before starting college at CUNY Baruch to study journalism. Eager for more responsibility, Jeffrey was soon promoted to server, and he later transitioned to that role at BLT Steak. A degree in journalism was intended to lead to a career in food writing, but Jeffrey was hooked on the energy of working a busy restaurant dining room. He decided to see where a career in hospitality could take him. Jeffrey joined Quality Branded as a floor manager at Quality Italian, and mirroring his father’s success at The Palm, earned two swift promotions: first as AGM of Smith & Wollensky, then as GM of Quality Eats NoMad. Note that the Moreno family’s commitment to hospitality extends to Jeffrey’s brother, Daniel, who is the chef de cuisine of Quality Italian in New York City.
